What kind of background do I need to teach dual enrollment courses?
- For academic dual enrollment courses, teachers must have either
- Master’s degree in the discipline to be taught OR
- Master’s degree and 18 graduate credits in the discipline to be taught
- For occupational/workforce courses:
- Master’s degree in the discipline or subfield or
- Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline or subfield or
- Bachelor’s degree in any field and 3 years of work experience in the discipline or subfield or
- License in the discipline or subfield and 5 years of work experience in the discipline or subfield or
- Recognized certification in the discipline or subfield and 5 years of work experience in the discipline or subfield or
- 64 semester credit hours in the discipline or subfield and 5 years of work experience in the discipline or subfield or
- Associate degree in any field and 5 years of work experience in the discipline or subfield.

What if I do not have a master’s degree or teaching license?
- The Arizona Teachers Academy helps you cover tuition and fees to become certified to teach dual enrollment courses!
Is there a certificate I need to apply for on top of teaching dual enrollment courses?
- No, there is no additional certificate that you will apply for. You are certified to teach dual enrollment courses through your local community college or university
