What is a Job Shadow?
A structured workplace visit that is designed to engage students by connecting classroom learning with practical business and industry observations and experiences.
Why Job Shadows Matter
- Provides opportunities for students to explore career pathways at an earlier age and introduces company and industry leaders to their future workforce.
- Exposes students to real-world career readiness expectations by introducing workplace expectations such as professionalism, dress code, work ethic, and reliability.
- Encourages students to nurture an industry connection that may lead to an internship opportunity.
Employer Commitment
Time – One day, 3-4 hours
Single or multi-department participation
Provide direct supervision of student(s) while on-site
Provide general experiences tailored to small groups of 10-15 students
Provide program and student feedback through evaluations
